There is still snow on the western trails, not ideal but workable. With the current temperature forecast short distance and smaller teams are a safer approach. I think we can still hold a 4 dog, 4 or 5 mile race on Sunday. The parking lot is currently mixed gravel/ice, so we would…
The trails were solid with granular surface today. Nick re-groomed the heavily travelled trails before leaving, so for those of you crazy enough to go out early in the morning before the freezing rain, the surface should be hard and fast until 9 am, especially with a little fresh snow…
We still have a freezing rain forecast for tomorrow morning so we will postpone the event to March 4th. There is still a good base of snow at Larose, so hopefully enough of it will survive this week’s temperatures. • Dana
The forecast still has freezing drizzle from 9 am to noon on Sunday. I suspect we will have to postpone the event. The group will decide today at the Forest Day. There will be a post later this evening confirming. Possible reschedule depending on the weather – details TBD.

Nick says he thinks he may still be able to groom trails for the weekend, especially if we get a little snow on Friday, so keep posted and don’t make other plans just yet! • For Larose Forest day, we have all the trails around the parking area as the…

South Korean student visitors to Prescott-Russell, and their Canadian hosts, were given dog sled rides today at Larose forest at the request of the forestry manager and council. Despite somewhat chilly temperatures, and underdressed visitors (running shoes and jeans are not awesome at -15°C), a fun time…
The Larose Forest has been updated https://mushlarose.ca/larose-forest-trails/ The first change from last year is the re-opening of the ‘ravine’ trail between JGL and End Loop. This trail was used in the past but has been abandoned for several years. From the trail reports that have been posted, care and caution should…
