Larose – Mar 2

I know I’m crazy, but I was out on the trails this morning. The western trails were a mix of hard snow and rough ice, but almost entirely still covered. Lots of small branches and other tree debris. I took 2 dogs for my first team, and certainly recommend small teams if you go out, but it is passable for adventuresome sledders. Don’t even try it on skis – it would be miserable and dangerous. Moose trail was a similar icy mix. Malamute Loop has a little blow out on the north east corner. 10/11 Trail and Concession 10 are completely blown out. The launch from P1 on Concession 11 is solid ice for 50 ft or more. I parked as tight as I could to Big Pine and launched across the snow on the edge of the trail there. I will be back tomorrow. I don’t expect conditions to change much today or overnight.
