Larose – Jan 29

We ran on the eastern trails this evening. They were fast, with a somewhat lightly chopped surface from the grooming, so not slippery, Concession 10 was hard packed, but a groomer had been by, so not slippery. I think skijor would be ok for reasonably competent skiers and/or slower dogs. There has been a moose and a deer on the new trail, most notably the eastern section, but mostly off to one side, so not too hazardous. I did slow my team down – just in case.

I am told the western trails have a harder base, frozen hard surface, but not too slick in the corners. Overall in reasonable shape, but I am guessing less good for skijor as the surface is more smooth, and pretty hard.
