For those who wish to collect extra miles for certification, there will be an additional Purebred 6 km pre-race on Saturday at 3:30, following the course set-up. There will be no additional cost to those already registered for the Sunday race, but please let us know in advance if you wish to attend – email: Events@mushlarose.ca.
Call for volunteers!
Timers (2-3 per event), Set-up (1-2), Team fetchers (1-2), Bib collector (1), Take Down (1-2). Races can’t happen without volunteers, so please volunteer to help when you are not racing, or bring someone with you who can. Please let us know what position you’d prefer by Wednesday January 21. As much as volunteering on the day is appreciated, we really need to plan in advance to be able to guarantee a quality event that we can all enjoy – email: Events@mushlarose.ca.
Registration
Deadline Tuesday January 20th. Cost is $15 per musher for the day. If unable to e-transfer please email Treasurer@mushlarose.ca for alternative options. All racers must also be Mush Larose members [Full membership or Weekend membership]. Should you have any questions or difficulties with the registration process please contact Events@mushlarose.ca for assistance.
There will be a BBQ on site: hamburger/sausage with chips and pop for $7. Funds raised support the club. Email President@MushLarose.ca by Saturday at noon to reserve your meal for Sunday. Volunteers who work the entire event get free lunch, but please let us know in advance that you are interested.
Proof of dog vaccinations
All dogs must have up to date vaccinations for Rabies and Parvo/Distemper to run on Mush Larose trails and/or events, or have a vet certified exception. Paperwork should be sent to Sledding@mushlarose.ca a minimum of 4 days prior to the event.
Race information
The schedule will depend on how many teams register for each class, and will be emailed to the participants on the Friday evening before the race along with the virtual race meeting – this is a MUST read. Anyone who doesn’t know the password hidden in the content will not be allowed to race. Events will be held in the above order starting at 9 am.
There are no prizes at this event – Bragging rights only. Results will be published on MushLarose.ca/event-results and posted on the Mush Larose Facebook page.
This race is dedicated to recreational mushers and dog-powered sports enthusiasts and is open to all breeds. It also serves as an opportunity for experienced dog mushers to enjoy the trail and share their knowledge. Please be ready to hold your team for a safer pass if asked. Most importantly it is a chance to “get working dogs off unemployment” and have a great time socializing with our dog sledding friends.
There is no water on site. Please bring your own. Please clean up after your dogs when you are not racing. Avoid blocking access to the start line, or distracting the teams that are waiting to leave.
Racers under age 18 must wear a helmet and eye protection, and their parent or guardian must sign an extra waiver. Racers must be a minimum of 16 years of age, or be pre-approved by the race organizer.
All sleds must have a sled bag to hold an injured dog if necessary, a snow hook sufficient to hold the team and a leash or snub-line. Dogs are required to be in harness, and should be wearing a flat non-choking collar.
Any participant may be disqualified if their equipment, ability to safely manage their team, or their treatment of the dogs is deemed unacceptable by the Race Marshall.
Please be aware that these dogs are not all house pets. Ask the owner before you approach any dog, be respectful of the proper way to approach a dog. No loose dogs on site.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
