SUMMARY:Dryland Race #2
DESCRIPTION:Mush Larose – Dryland Race #2\nSaturday\, November 22\, 2026 – 9 am \n\n***To be updated with details for this season***\n\nLarose Forest\, P1 Parking Lot\, Limoges\, Ontario \n\n\nRace Classes/Order\n5 km 4-dog Cart\n5 km 1 or 2-dog Bikejor\n5 km 1 or 2-dog Scooter (Open\, Nordic**)\n5 km 1 or 2-dog Canicross\n2 km 1 or 2-dog Scooter (Open\, Nordic**)\n2 km 1 or 2-dog Bikejor\n2 km 1 or 2-dog Canicross\nJunior class – Please contact the event organizer if you are interested in an under 16 class\, and we’ll try to find something that works for interested youth. \nExtra purebred race for those looking for miles towards their SD/SDX titles: 5 km Scooter\, Sunday at 9 am. Email Events@MushLarose.ca if you would like to participate. There is no extra cost if you are already registered for the Saturday events. \n*If there are fewer than 3 entries in a class\, classes may be combined\, or cancelled with full refund \n** Nordic class includes any dog that could reasonably get a Performance Evaluation Number (PEN) from the CKC (i.e.\, any dog that looks like a purebred). In the case where a northern breed dog does not have papers\, the Race Marshal will be the judge of which dogs qualify. We will use the 1.25 factor for calculating qualifying times for SD/SDX miles in this class. \nProof of vaccinations\nThese must be submitted in electronic format 7 days prior to the event\, if we do not already have them on record. All dogs must be vaccinated for Rabies and Parvo/Distemper\, or have a vet certified exception to run on Mush Larose trails\, or at Mush Larose events. Send proof of vaccination to sledding@mushlarose.ca. Please contact us in advance if you have problems or concerns providing proof of vaccination. \nBBQ\nWe’ll have a $5 lunch of hamburger/sausage with chips and a drink\, so stick around for lunch to chat with your dog buddies. All day volunteers eat free. Please pre-register your food choice with President@mushlarose.ca by December 5th\, so we know how much food to bring. We will not bring extra. You may pay by cash on site\, or by e-transfer. \nCall for Volunteers\nFor each class we will need: 2-3 start and finish timers\, a parking organizer\, 1-2 team fetchers (only to keep the teams aware of when they will need to go to the start line) and setup and take down help. You can help for 1 class\, or many\, we are happy to organize around your entries. Email events@mushlarose.ca to let us know what volunteer role you can help out with by Wednesday Dec 3\, so we can have a schedule e-mailed out before the race. See below for more details. \nRegistration\nRegister on-line at REGISTRATION by Monday December 1. The schedule will depend on how many teams register for each class\, and will be emailed to the participants and volunteers on the Friday evening before the race. Events will be held in the above order starting a 9 am. Should you have any questions or difficulties with the registration process please contact events@mushlarose.ca for assistance. \nThis race is $15 for Mush Larose members. Renewal/registration of membership: general membership minimum $60\, suggested $100 to cover costs (1 adult using sled/skis\, may be shared where the household only has one person running at a time; family membership $100 (2 adults and children 16 and under); associate membership $40 (dog owner does not use the trails\, but attends events with their dog)\, or weekend-only membership $15. People under 16 are free with a minimum of one adult membership in the household. Membership includes participation in other club events and use of the groomed sledding/skijor trails throughout the season. Season membership payment must be received before the race\, by e-transfer or Paypal only. \nSeason memberships\, weekend memberships\, or associate memberships can be purchased here: mushlarose.ca/membership Payment of weekend memberships and race fees will be by e-transfer only! This is to make cancellation arrangements easier – payment for weekend memberships will only be accepted once your class has been confirmed. \nRace Information\nAny changes or cancellation notices will be posted online at www.mushlarose.ca. Race meeting notes will be emailed out in advance – this is a MUST read. There will be a bizarre fact in the notes that you must know to prove that you have read them. Anyone who doesn’t know the fact will not be allowed to race. This allows racers more flexibility in arrival time. Please try to arrive with enough time to be ready for your scheduled start time. It is a recreational race\, so we will do our best to accommodate people who are late to the gate\, but we will not significantly hold up the schedule for the day. \nThere are no prizes for this race – bragging rights only. \nPlease organize your own handlers in advance. There will not be enough fetching volunteers to help your team to the start. Dogs are required to be in harness for bikejor\, scooter\, and carting classes. Canicross participants must have their dog(s) securely attached to them with a belt; dogs may wear a harness or run with a non-choke collar (canicross only). Racers under age 18 must wear a helmet and eye protection\, except for canicross. Racers in the 4-dog cart class must be a minimum of 16 years of age\, or proven to handle 4 dogs in advance – subject to Race Marshal approval. Cart drivers must have a tie out line with them\, so they can stop and anchor the dogs to a tree should they need to (in case of injury or serious tangle). Any participant may be disqualified if their equipment or their treatment of the dogs is deemed unsafe or unacceptable by the Race Marshal. No loose dogs on site. Please clean up after your dogs. \nThis race is dedicated to recreational mushers and dog-powered sports enthusiasts and is open to all breeds. It also serves as an opportunity for experienced dog mushers to enjoy the trail and share their knowledge. Most importantly it is a chance to “get working dogs off unemployment” and have a great time socializing with other dog lovers. \nFor more information\, please contact:\nIan Cranstone\,\nRace Organizer\nEvents@mushlarose.ca \nRACES DEPEND ON VOLUNTEERS!\nEmail Events@mushlarose.ca to let us know what activity you would prefer\, and which races you are in\, so we can schedule around it. \nVolunteer positions are:\nTimer (2-3 per event) – records arrival/departure times – there is a head timer to help you.\nParking organizer (1 per event) – ensures that the marked off parking is reserved for Mushers only. Hands out bibs and verifies that the mushers have read the Race Meeting e-mail.\nTeam Fetcher (1-2 per event) – ensures that each team arrives at the start line in time\, but is not required touch dogs or equipment.\nTake Down (1-2 people) Helps the organizer take down trail markers and pack things up after\nBib collector – Ensures that all teh bibs are returned and puts them back in order at the end of the day (setting aside any that need to be washed).
