February 17

Skijored the Moose and 10/11 loop this morning around 11. It must have snowed on Friday and Saturday after the grooming on Thursday, because the snow was deep and soft on Moose. The portion shared with the skidoo trail was good, and the main trail on Concession 11 was not too bad – but everywhere else was slow. My skis frequently sank deep into the snow, and the sledding tracks were also very deep in places making the skate skiing difficult at times.

If you plan to skijor later today or tomorrow, I would recommend you use classic or back-county skis so you can use the sledding tracks to your advantage. Combine that with two strong, fast dogs that will allow you to double-pole a lot and you should be fine. Leave the skate skis at home until they groom again. If you plan to go sledding be prepared for slow conditions.
