Gates open at 10am, races being at 11am!

Full event details below:

The Friends of Mac Johnson Wildlife Area hosts its annual Fall Festival at the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville.

The outdoor party takes place on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features several fun activities for every member of the family. You can enjoy the blazing and breathtaking fall colours, watch the waterfowl – including perhaps some trumpeter swans – and an ‘eyes-only’ fall leaves scavenger hunt. Young artists can also build a birdhouse or paint a rock monster. The CRCA will be providing kayaks and canoes free of charge to paddle on the pond.

If you get hungry, the Friends will also have a barbecue lunch available at the Nature Centre, accompanied by live music. After lunch, folks can make popcorn and toast marshmallows at the fire pit near the pond. The highlight for many folks will be the return of the Mush Larose dogsledders, back with their dog carts! Races begin at 11 a.m.

For more information and updates on other special attractions on this exciting day, visit www.crca.ca/event-calendar. Admission is $5 per vehicle (free for the dryland racers from Mush Larose).

To get to the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area, take Highway 29 north from Brockville to Tincap, turn east on Debruge Road and drive for two kilometres to the main entrance. For more information about the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, visit www.crca.ca or call (613) 546-4228 x 500 or toll free in the 613 region at 1-877-956-CRCA (2722).
